سلامة المرضى هي جوهر الرعاية الصحية عالية الجودة، واتباع الأهداف العالمية يضمن حماية المرضى من الأخطاء وتحسين النتائج العلاجية. أول هدف هو التعرف على المريض بشكل صحيح، باستخدام معرفين على الأقل مثل الاسم الكامل ورقم السجل الطبي عند دخول المستشفى أو قبل إعطاء أي دواء أو سحب عينات، لضمان صحة هوية المريض.

Patient safety is the cornerstone of high-quality healthcare, and following the Global Patient Safety Goals ensures protection from errors and better treatment outcomes. The first goal is accurate patient identification, using at least two identifiers, such as full name and medical record number, at admission, before giving medication, or drawing samples, ensuring patient identity.
Second, effective communication among healthcare teams is essential, including clear written medical orders, read-back verification, and standardized tools like SBAR to ensure all information is accurately understood.
The third goal is high-alert medication management, using them only in designated areas, verifying doses, and training staff to handle them safely.
Fourth, surgical safety involves marking the surgical site, patient involvement, checklists, and Sign-in and Time-out procedures to ensure the correct patient, site, and instruments.
Fifth, infection prevention through proper hand hygiene using the five-step method, personal protective equipment, and regular disinfection of instruments and surfaces.
Finally, fall prevention requires comprehensive assessment upon admission, periodic reassessment, and preventive measures for high-risk patients such as warning signs and continuous monitoring.
By implementing these six goals, healthcare teams can create a safe, reliable environment that protects patients and ensures high-quality care.
